28 August 2023 Lend with Care - We have had a lot of repayments and we have £600 to lend. Jean Paul is a potato farmer from Rwanda. He borrowed £600 to increase his crop and hire 5 seasonal workers and build a warehouse where other farmers can store and sell their potatoes from. He has now repaid the loan, employed more labour and he is building a barn. Well done to Jean Paul and thank you Ampleforth for helping him with a loan of £300. As always please do contact Anthony if you would like to recommend an individual, a country or a sector we might lend to. Anthony Glaister
5 September 2022 This month we have supported the Lyando Ladies group for their shop in Zambia, Mohammad to expand his clothes business in Pakistan, Sylvestre to grow potatoes in Rwanda and Insitar to help her with her clothes embroidery workshop on Palestine. As with all businesses we bear in mind the extent of family or worker dependency and growing or manufacturing things as really benefitting the borrowers and their extended communities. Thank you for your support and for your suggestions. Anthony Glaister
25 February 2022 The parish has helped two more businesses in Africa – Jeane Claude a farmer in Rwanda and the lovely ladies of the Chitsime Group.
‘The Chitsime Group is located in Blantyre. It is comprised of five hard-working female members, all of whom are happily married. Between them, the women have a total of 32 children in their care, some of whom are orphans taken in by the women. The majority of children cared for by the women are going to school due to the hard work their mothers put into their businesses. The businesses range from livestock trading to farming and selling groceries’
