Dear All,

Again, a worth-while response .. Thank you for your continuing support at a time when the need is greater than ever!
We were told we’re one of few ‘groups/ churches’ to bring goods to the depot now and therefore appreciated all the more!
Please could you continue to spread the word and highlight the need and the dates in your bulletins and by word of mouth?
Thank you again, Eve and David

Dear MFB SUPPORTERS,
A BIG thank you for your very kind donations, amounting to £235 in cash and cheques;  the food weight however was quite low on the last delivery, 75kg, perhaps due to holiday absences..

We are, however, grateful for every donation, however small, and to those who choose to donate by other means!

Now as Autumn approaches we are preparing for the HARVEST FESTIVAL APPEAL
We will again be uniting our efforts with those of Peter and Sue Allen for their Harvest Festival Appeal, from the villages of Cawton, Stonegrave and Gilling.

Gilling Harvest Festival  will take place on Friday 13th October.

NEXT DELIVERY : TUES. OCTOBER 17th but …

TOGETHER WE CAN end the need for food banks. The need cannot end without us!From donating food, cash, volunteering your time or taking on a fund-raising challenge, there are lots of ways to get involved with raising awareness of poverty and helping end UK hunger.

Let's work on this, not least with our political representatives. (Mark 6:37 - "Give them something to eat.")

I do not have to use the local library every day to keep warm. Andrew (63) does.

Elsie (77) travels on buses, just to keep warm. I don't need to do this.

Joan (89) is thinking of stopping her TV licence to help towards the £200 per month she needs for energy bills. She avoids filling her kettle. I leave my TV on stand-by.

Jill (69) has the heating and water on for an hour in the morning. She digs in the garden to keep warm and goes to bed early with an electric blanket.

I am not one of the 2 million adults in the UK who have had to go without food at least for one day over the last month. Are you?
"If one household in seven is food insecure, society is failing in a fundamental way.....the problem is soluble, but far from being solved it is getting worse." (Prof. Sir Michael Marmot UCL - quoted in Guardian.)

Some of you will have switched your contributions to the Foodbank to valuable regular financial support via the Foodbank website. This is great but the MFB manager says they are desperately in need of actual donations of food too.
Please therefore, if you can, resume the practice of physical giving which we have built up over several years, perhaps in addition to any financial contribution you may make.
The MFB website provides a few statistics for you to think about, such as 115 3-day parcels given every day in 2020 to people in crisis; 41% of Middlesbrough children living below the poverty line – nearly half!; twelve and a half thousand people fed during 2020.
A reminder of what is urgently needed at Middlesbrough now:

You may wish to remember those 41% of Middesbrough children living below the poverty line when deciding what to give in the next month with Christmas in mind – and their parents too of course.

Thank you all again. Keep safe and God bless,
David and Eve

The following website will help with cash donations, single or regular:
https://middlesbrough.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-money/
(The Give.net scheme (a non-profit-making charity itself) suggested on the above website, charges a 3% administration fee. You can avoid this by adopting one of the other schemes mentioned on the website which I reproduce here):

DIRECT PAYMENTS
You can make one-off or regular donations directly into our bank account using these details:
  • Sort code: 08-92-99 (Co-operative Bank)
  • Account number: 65603002
  • Account name: Middlesbrough Foodbank
It would be helpful if you could also email us at [email protected] so that we know to expect your donation.

REGULAR GIVING:
We believe in creating sustainable projects that have a lasting impact. Your regular gifts enable us to plan ahead and commit to projects. It’s also an easy way to manage your giving.
To set up a standing order by post, please download this standing order form and send it to Middlesbrough Foodbank, 5 Wear Court, Wallis Road, Skippers Lane Ind. Est., Middlesbrough, TS6 6DU.
